Project Duration: 2014-2015

data4all is a mobile crowdsourcing project for easy collection of geographic data. The goal of data4all was to build a mobile application that would allow non-expert user easy and rapid collection of geographic data and upload it to OpenStreetMap (OSM). The motto of data4all was “Map your village in 20 minutes”. It was carried out as a student project at the University of Bremen which I was co-supervising.

data4all largely builds on the WYSIWYM (“What you see is what you map”) paradigm previously adapted in the mapIT application, allowing to create geodata through direct interaction with smartphone camera images. It also includes other concepts such as trajectory tracking with a focus on a highly convenient and efficient user interface.

data4all is open source and available at Github and Google Playstore.
